My name is Jen and I am so glad you stopped by. Welcome here. I have been a stay at home mom now for almost fifteen years. I have eight children and we homeschool. During that time I’ve learned a lot about money, budgets and saving. Here are 5 suggestions I like to encourage anyone to use if they are trying to save money and be a stay at home mom.

Number One: To start clean your house yourself. Say a heartfelt thank you and wish your cleaning lady a prosperous goodbye! Commit to cleaning your home on a schedule or a routine that works for you. I spot clean around three times a day. Just pick up toys, dishes, clutter type items. This takes 5 to 10 minutes. We then do specific chores in the afternoon as a family at about 3 o” clock. Overall this is one way to cut down on expenses. It makes a big impact on saving money as a stay at home mom.

Number Two: If you want to get serious about saving as a stay at home mom. I believe that it’s time to ditch the lashes, nails, and waxing and facial appointments. Additionally however you could learn to do it yourself for a cheaper DIY version. There are so many stellar tutorials and videos online now. It’s easy to get started and teach yourself. In addition get a foam roller and a tennis ball. Learn how to do your own trigger point release massage exercises and you’re saving big now on massages monthly to. Way to go!

Number Three: Drink water. Ditch the pop, juice, energy drinks, sugary coffee drinks. These can really make your grocery bill add up quickly. Moreover if we are being honest those things they’re not really good for you anyways and your consuming needless sugars and extra calories. My advice would be to just drink water, save the money, and you could invest in more fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables. Skip the fancy drive through coffee and make your own or switch to tea. There is so many delicious tea combinations now I’m sure you can find one that you will enjoy drinking instead. If I’m feeling fancy and want a treat I will brew tea and it use it like “juice”. A raspberry or strawberry tea mixed with a bit honey. Looks like Kool-Aid but taste a lot better and it’s better for you. My kids think I’m such a fun mom when I make this for them. And I know that I’m preserving wealth and additionally adding to my children’s health when we enjoy this sipper.

Number Four: A wonderful way to save money as a stay at home mom is embracing homemaking. Contrary to what you may think. Being a homemaker is not oppression. It’s empowering! Here you get to sit in the drivers seat and steer your family and home down an extremely joyous and meaningful path. Learning how to create nourishing and satisfying meals at home is a tremendous blessing to your family. This is also a wonderful way to practice financial stewardship. That means no more eating out unless it’s in the budget to do so. Literally “skip the dishes” and learn how to cook a few blessedly simple recipes and you are well on your way to a good start.

Save Money On Simple Meals: Stay at home easy meal building ideas could look like hot or cold oatmeal. It is a good option for a nourishing breakfast- add a swirl of nut butter or a scoop of protein powder for staying power. Swirl with molasses or honey for for some trace minerals for growing kids. Lunches can be as easy as hot soup with crackers or sandwiches paired with carrot sticks, homemade hummus and some fruit. Boiled eggs, popcorn and celery dipped in hummus or smeared with nut butter are healthy snack options. Dates are delicious if you decide to hit the trails and go on a nature walk. Dinners can look as simple as rustic soups, easy family pleasing casseroles or spaghetti. Low on time or energy in the evening? A sheet pan supper or your crock pot can take care of that. Prep in the morning and you can put your feet up a little longer during afternoon tea. Saving money as a stay at home mom takes a bit of planning. But making some adjustments and slowly implementing them in bit sized chunks will set you on to the road to success if you stay consistent.
Number Five: Keep date nights, but make them à la cart! Make a picnic and take a walk through the roses at the park. Make your own fancy coffee at home and wander a farmers market, these make beautiful romantic low spend date options. Make sure to plan around your communities local events. In our community we can enjoy things like old car shows, art or music in the park, even fireworks. It’s good to remember – it’s free to browse. Lookup how-to’s on YouTube to learn how to dance, movie night, marathons, hiking or bird watching. Have a double date and go enjoy Costco hotdogs together. Or swap childcare with another couple. Helping each other out by allowing them to strengthen their marriage is the ultimate??? What Kyle?))) Think outside the box when it comes to date night. Most importantly dream together. Some of my favorite dates were when my husband and I were saving actively and putting large chunks of money aside and working very hard at wealth building. We didn’t “do much”but I can’t fondly look back at those being some of our closest moments. Envisioning your future and enjoying, encouraging one another along. Is a great way strengthen your marriage and at the same time lining your pocketbook for your retirement where more memories can be made.

In conclusion I think one of the simplest ways to make money as as stay at home mom is to enjoy your life and what you are building at home. Being a homemaker is an impactful and meaningful career. Jump in head first and approach it with a clean apron and also of gusto and you’ll do just fine. You dear mother are replaceable in every area except being the mother of your children and the queen to your man of the house. My prayer for you is that you would embrace your divine value take up your mantle and abandon yourself completely to the call.

Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine In the very heart of your house, Your children like olive plants All around your table. Psalm 128:3
